If a student or anybody wants to have just a small garden, they could do a little rice bed garden. They can just use two by fours, three by fives to box in the garden area.
It’s very, very good to put down a newspaper and straw around your plants. That way you won’t have a big problem with weeds and, you’re keeping the moisture locked in your garden. Start off small. Because you can, you can grow a tremendous number of plants in a small garden if you planned it out.
Go to the cooperative extension service and get one of the little booklets about what to plant when. I think there’s a lot of benefits to having a little bitty garden. Make no mistake about it, it takes a little patience and perseverance to grow a garden you are proud ot.
You can’t just plant a few seeds or stick the plants in the ground and then just leave and think that it’s going to be okay. You really have to look after, and attend it. If you do tend to it, and if you take pride in your garden, you can have a lot of really good, nutritious food Many of my friends see my garden, get inspired and decide they are going to grow a small garden. The inspiration leaves, and the garden dies. So develop the right work ethic and mindset before you start. This is going to take time, so decide before you start if it is worth it to you or not. It was for me, I enjoy every minute of it, but I have come to find out I am the exception.
